Mike Sibley’s “Drawing from Line to Life” Workshop

July 11, 12, 13 • Pinellas Park, FL

I was thrilled and honored to attend Mike’s drawing workshop hosted by our local art society - Pinellas Park Art Society. Mike is a master graphite artist and an excellent instructor from the UK. Over the three day course featuring numerous drawing exercises, I was introduced to graphite techniques, new materials, and received individual instruction from Mike. His work is exemplary and I will be working a lot more in graphite after attending his workshop! It was wonderful to spend time with Mike and his lovely wife Jenny and the other participants in the workshop. I highly encourage artists to attend or take one of his workshops online. Please his website under my links section. Thank you so much Mike and Jenny!

Masterclass with John and Suzie Seerey-Lester

July 5, 6, 7 & 8, 2011 • Studio B, Venice, FL

Along with several other artists, I attended a masterclass with John and Suzie Seerey-Lester at their Studio B in Venice, FL. John is not only a master wildlife artist, but an incredible instructor and I experienced four fun-filled and exciting days of demonstrations, tips and techniques, one-on-one instruction, painting and learning about the business of art. Huge thank you to John and Suzie for an exciting and informative class, and in my case, a dream come true to study with one of my wildlife art heroes!

Clearwater Dolphins Art Exhibit

August 5 - September 4, 2011 • Pier 60, Clearwater Beach, FL

The Clearwater Regional Chamber, along with support from Clearwater Marine Aquarium and the city of Clearwater, launched a project to artistically showcase the bottlenose dolphin and featuring our local artists. I was one of the artists selected to participate in this fun event and my handpainted dolphin, "Sunset Sam" was one of the 50 dolphins displayed at the event which coincided during the Republican National Convention and attended by some 50,000 guests who visited the Tampa Bay area. The dolphin was chosen to represent Clearwater, home of the Clearwater Marine Aquarium where our famous Dolphin Tale star, "Winter" resides and to draw attention to our beautiful beaches and marine life. In addition, I have recently been commissioned to paint another dolphin for a prominent attorney in Miami. Since the original exhibit, there have been over 135 dolphins added to the dolphin trail map.
